The last couple of weeks have been very hectic and I have had to make a lot of adjustments. The upside, and it's a big one, is that I have completed a tremendous amount of work despite the turmoil of moving equipment and supplies to a new studio space.

The lotus flower is the central inspiration for this portrait, based on photos I took at a bird sanctuary in Mobile, Alabama. Countless poets and philosophers have made analogies based on the growth of the water lily, resulting in a wealth of rich symbolism.
